HB 706 is a HUGE step forward in the right direction. It codifies financial protections for child influencers as well as a right to be forgotten for children who were shared online without their consent.

October 2024 Update:
Representative Doug Mann has introduced HB 1998 in Missouri, which would provide a child financial compensation for their role in a monetized social media account, similar to existing Coogan laws. The Missouri bill would also provide a right to privacy for these minors, allowing them to request a social media platform to permanently delete content in which they were featured.
As of October 2024, and following Representative Mann’s retirement, Representative Farnan has signed on to be HB 1998’s new champion.
