Latest Ohio Updates
Representatives Michele Grim and Lauren McNally of Ohio have introduced the Kidfluencer Protection Act in Ohio, which would provide a child financial compensation for their role in a monetized social media account, similar to existing Coogan laws. The Ohio bill would also provide a right to privacy for these minors, allowing them to request a social media platform to permanently delete content in which they were featured.
I had the good fortune to meet with Ohio State Representatives Michele Grim and Lauren McNally to discuss their new “Kidfluencer Protection Act”. This act follows the structure of the initial Washington State legislation, which has since been echoed in Illinois and many other states.
Keep an eye out for updates, and I hope to see you all submitting testimony when the time comes. Let’s keep this going!
